Question 1
How does your product use or challenge conventions and how does it represent social groups or issues?
Our film, " The Final Move", uses conventions from film genres thriller, drama, and mystery to give the viewer the element of surprise and letting them draw conclusions themselves. We also use the convention of a time limit, with the inclusion of the chess timer. However, we also challenge the convention of a thriller film having a protagonist or antagonist. That way, we can let the audience portray who they want to.
Question 2
Our product engages with the audience with the factor of jeopardy, by using the act of mystery, and the film's genre being thriller, it would keep our audiences hooked to the screen, even with the run time of one minute, with the disappearing of B having the audience locked on the film. The film would be distributed as a YouTube video because it fits the screen better as a short film of this size.
Question 3
How did your production skills develop throughout this project?
As an editor, my production skills skyrocketed throughout the development of this project. I was familiar with editing videos before, but not exactly as this. Since we had 6 minutes worth of filming, it was going to be quite the hassle. Especially considering the fact that the film had to be one minute, so we even had to cut some scenes just to make the Final Cut of the film.
Question 4
How did you integrate technologies – software, hardware and online – in this project?
I integrated technologies by using our main phone to film, an iPhone 10, the BlackMagic camera app, with features like quality film control, manual control, and so much more. The editing software that I used to chop up the film was Adobe Premiere Rush, which contributed to the film being exactly one minute, and using our music for the film, that being "Mr. Sandman" by The Chordettes.
