This still from the film Full Metal Jacket uses a low-angle shot to give R. Lee Ermey or Sergeant Hartman to convey a sense of power towards him, which in this case, gives a sense of command.

This still from the film The Shining uses a ground-level shot to pace the subject to where the camera is moving along the floor to simulate the action, in this case being the boy on the tri-cycle.

This still from the film The Dark Knight uses height to convey character towards the subject. that being Bat-Man, who is used to show a sense of justice or power.

This still from the series The Walking Dead uses distance to film a hip level shot/ cowboy shot in order to give the subjects emotion or showcase them walking away from a setting.

viewers attention towards the actor and show his emotions.

This still uses contrast to show the face and each half with it being consumed in light and darkness.

This picture uses frontality to guide the viewers attention towards the face of the person in the photo, and the person's features.

    The challenges I've faced mostly stemmed from the lack of frontality, in the photos shot. There were little to no shots directed where the face was facing forward at a glance where the viewer could grasp more attention. The photo I chose has my friend, facing exactly towards the camera, with his face being the main attraction. Another challenge that I had throughout the photo experiment was the lack of color in my photo. While the colors pass off as vibrant in the sky, the background tones down the color with the tall grass and houses nearby, however, the color difference, makes the photo more attractive for viewers. Another photo that I had challenges with was the one of size. While the angle I shot did show the true height and size of the hotel, maybe a different angle could've shown its true magnitude. The balance of the shot also made it extremely difficult. However, the shot makes it look as though the hotel is towering over you, which makes sense due to its enormous size. The quality in the frontality shot also removes the background or makes it quite blurry, so that the focus is on the person alone. The timing of the contrast shot was also very difficult to pull off due to the setting and the placement of the light. It was also a static shot, meaning that no movement took place while taking the still. The direction of the frontality shot was also a challenge because the subject's face was in place, yet he wasn't naturally facing forward.

Rule Of Thirds

 

In this still of the movie Waves (November 15, 2019), the "Rule of Thirds" is used to suggest the character development of Tyler, as he's looking at his inner reflection as a person.

In this photo of Joker dancing on the staircase in the film Joker (October 4, 2019), the Rule of Thirds is used to bring direct attention to Joker's dancing and nothing else.

    In the still from the movie Waves, Tyler recently went to the doctor's office, and it was revealed that he had a SLAP tear (Superior Labrum Anterior and Posterior).The doctor explains that if Tyler keeps wrestling with this injury, there'll be no way for him to wrestle, for the damage will be irreversible. Tyler told the doctor that he'll reach out to his parents about the situation, which he did not. Instead , we find him in the bathroom taking pain killers unprescribed as he looks at himself through the glass mirror with his sling attached to his arm. As he returns to his room, his parents are in an argument that Tyler did not alert them about the results from the appointment. 

      I chose Scott Pilgrim vs. The World because of how the image displays love and romance. For example, some relationships are shown to be less hands-on. However, with a film like this, that's hardly the case, especially with the image shown. You can see Ramona Flowers ever so close to Scott Pilgrim's face. With some relationships, this can be considered an invasion of privacy. However, the image shows that Scott likes this type of feel, and this organizes the type of relationship that is structured between Ramona and Scott. This also tends to show half of the film's genre included in the film, being built up of action, comedy, and romance. This also signifies the plot of the story , that in order for Scott to date Ramona, he must get through all 7 of her exes. Thus speaking, the love that the two characters share for each other coexists with the main narrative of the film.

Hello World!

          Hello World, this is my blank canvas to portray my mind and its thoughts daily. While I use this outlet, it will be a great way of expressing myself to whoever reads my work. So, for starters, I'm Kash. I love parallels in media, comics, coming-of-age films, and many other topics. Words to describe me are calm, quiet, and a bit awkward at times. I love absorbing different forms of media, no matter what the difference is. I love spending time with friends, playing games, being in nature, drawing, and lots more. I also love music and its different subgenres in which it can be listened to and interpreted. For example, rap and its subgenres expand from at least a thousand diverse multitudes, such as cloud rap, g-funk, boom bap, conscious hip hop, trap, and so many more. Its variations give different vibes no matter what subgenre you choose. Like I've said beforehand, another activity I love to do is draw from time to time, whether that would be sketching, free drawing, or starting with some sort of basis. The reason why I love to draw is because of how it triggers my brain to start thinking of what to do next. While I've stated my love for comics, you must know my favorite superhero, that being Spider-Man. The reason as to why I resonate with Spider-Man is because of his humanity. With billions of superheroes with powers, it's hard to relate to them, but with Spider-Man's quick quips, lifestyle, and caring attitude, it's hard not to like him. So, being like Spider-Man, I'll wall climb, shoot webs, or do whatever I must to put myself in a position to post on this blog.
